Ashley & Alex ~ November 23, 2014

MonWed-1403

Ashley and Alex met during their first day of school in 2004. November 23, 2014 the couple married and as the chalkboard said ‘0 days til I Do.’ During the ceremony the groom’s father gave a speech about love. The speech was followed by the couple lighting a unity candle and everyone praying together.

For the ceremony, Ashley wore a bridal gown from Uptown Bridal perfectly suited to the bride. The fitted lace gown finished with scalloped edging and an A-line skirt with train. Her hair was worn in a partial up-do. Diamond earrings and a bracelet brought sparkles to the ensemble, as did the bride’s silver glittery shoes. The bridesmaids wore navy dresses each in a different style. While the bride’s bouquet was made up of white, blush and pink roses, succulents and baby’s breath, the bridesmaids carried bouquets of baby’s breath only. Alex wore a grey tuxedo with navy tie, as did the groomsmen. After the ceremony and the start of the reception, the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance.

Dance lessons led to a wonderful choreographed first dance for the couple to Amazed by Lonestar. The mother & son dance followed with My Wish by Rascal Flatts and then Kelsey and her father danced to Daddy’s Little Angel while a slideshow played.

Centerpieces were DIY succulent candles, lanterns and dollies. The reception was filled with fun, including the newlywed game where the bride and groom sit back to back, each holding one of their own shoes and one of their partners. To answer a question both hold up one shoe to represent their answer.

When the games ended a three-tiered wedding cake was served. The cake was finished with lace piping and pink fondant roses on each tier. The second tier featured a monogrammed ‘M.’

During the speeches the maid of honor who is the bride’s sister and best friend said Ashley had been there for everything in her life and considered Alex her brother for a long time. The couple, she said, taught her what love is. The best man, who was friends with Ashley before Alex, lightened up the speeches by saying that if Alex ever shows up on time Ashley needs to reward him.
