Rebecca & Steven ~ January 3rd, 2016

SWP_4722-EditRebecca and Stephen originally met New Years’ Eve. They married January 3rd, 2016. As guest arrived for the ceremony, instead of having them sign a guest book, they were asked to sign a balloon with their name on it.

Rebecca was a beautiful bride in a gown with a corset-style lace-up in the back and rouching across the front. She wore a diamond headband and had diamond drop earrings. Her bouquet featured white and watermelon colored roses. Each of her bridesmaids wore different styles of navy dresses and carried coral colored roses. The groomsmen were dressed in grey tuxedos with piping, blue ties and vests and white shirts, while the groom wore a grey tuxedo with a blue vest, white shirt and a blue bowtie.

The ceremony involved braiding three strands of rope, gold, white and black with the reading “a cord of three strands is not easily broken,” from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. The officiant demonstrated that marriage is not just about the union of two lives but is about having God in the center of their relationship and marriage. According to the officiant, marriage is about saying ‘I love you,’ at least once a day.

During speeches, the best man told the couple that “marriage is not 50/50, it’s 100/100 – each person must give their all to each other.” He finished by saying that Becky was not his sister-in-law, she is his sister-in-heart. The maid of honor thanked the groom for treating her with dignity and taking her in. Rebecca’s father told the newlyweds to be true to each other always, to be each other’s best friend. And he ended by asking God to bless their marriage.

Before speeches were over, the bride’s sorority sisters sang a song for her, which is a Tri Delta tradition.

For the first dance the couple chose Always and Forever by Luther Vandross and My Love by Justin Timberlake. The father & daughter dance was to I Loved Her First by Heartland and then the mother & son dance to The Man You’ve Become.

The couple played the ‘who knows who better’ game. The wedding cake was an almond cake with almond butter cream frosting. The cake was decorated with beading along the base of each tier with pearl beads draped over the top. A Mr. & Mrs. Cake topper finished the cake. There was also a cookie table for guests.

Favors were Hershey’s Kisses. The night ended with a signature sparkler farewell. Congratulations Rebecca and Stephen. May your lives together shine like the stars above. We wish you the best.
