Michelle & Dewey ~ December 29, 2012

The week between Christmas and New Years is one of the most festive of the year. December 29, 2012 was a joyous celebration for Michelle and Dewey who met at a rock climbing gym where Michelle needed someone to belay her. They hit it off and ended up going to a movie afterwards. That day was the start of something beautiful.

On her wedding day, Michelle was the epitome of a blushing bride in a strapless Maggie Sotero gown fitted to the hips with beaded detailing. Instead of a veil, the bride wore a headband. Her bouquet was a trendy compilation of brooches in the shapes of snowflakes and flowers with ribbon entwined within.

The bridesmaids marked the official start to the ceremony as they walked down the aisle in black dresses, each one a unique style. The groom waited for his bride in a black tuxedo with white shirt and black tie. The groomsmen wore silver vests and ties.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. During the ceremony they lit a unity candle using a candelabra that was hand crafted by the couple’s uncle. Taper candles were held in wrought iron design with the date of the couple’s wedding on it. At the end of the ceremony the couple shared a sweeping kiss.

Instead of a guestbook, Michelle and Dewey chose a tree that was painted by a guest to capture fingerprints of friends and family. Centerpieces were made by the bride and were either flowers with a floating candle or a glittery tree branch centered in an empty picture frame with silver candleholders and flowers. In front of each centerpiece was a picture frame with the couple posing in front of a door. At each table the door was a different color. When the guests entered the venue they found keys hanging from a decorative tree. Each key had a colored ribbon and a name. The keys were guest place cards with the ribbon corresponding to the color of the door on each table.

Speeches were made by the fathers of the bride and groom followed by a speech from the best man where he talked about how perfect Michelle and Dewey were for each other and how they are the ‘couple that makes love look easy.’ They did make love look easy whey they took to the dance floor for their first song as husband and wife, Let’s Stay Together by Al Green.

The highlight of the night came during the father/daughter dance where the two entertained guests with a  dance number to a montage of movie songs that included Indiana Jones, Singing in the Rain, Pink Panther theme, Little Mermaid and 007. For the Singing in the rain portion Michelle’s Dad danced with an umbrella and for the 007 segment both father and daughter had squirt guns.

There were two cakes, a chocolate groom’s cake and then the official wedding cake with the couple holding guns as a topper. What a fantastic day. Congratulations Michelle & Dewey. May your lives be filled with all the wonders of your wedding day.
