Ivy & Alex ~ January 25, 2019

Ivy and Alex, who met while participating in high school journalism, were married on January 25, 2019.

Ivy looked beautiful in a strapless ballgown with a sweetheart neckline, embellished bodice, and full tulle skirt with a train. She accessorized with diamond-shaped drop earrings and a matching pendant necklace, jeweled satin flats, and a full-length veil studded with pearls. Her bouquet was composed of roses in shades of pale pink and ivory, white anemones, thistles, and greenery. Her maid of honor wore a full-length dusty rose dress with an off-the-shoulder lace bodice and a flowing skirt.

Alex wore a dark gray suit with a white shirt, blue tie with white polka dots with a matching pocket square, and a thistle boutonniere. He was accompanied by a best man.

The couple read personal vows to each other during the outdoor ceremony. Alex called himself the luckiest man ever because of their shared love and quirkiness, and promised Ivy his heart. Ivy promised to be Alex’s wife and his best friend forever.

Next, guests dined on baby greens wrapped in cucumber strips with mandarin oranges, fresh berries, crumbled feta cheese, sugared walnuts, and raspberry vinaigrette; grilled mahi-mahi with mango salsa; flatiron steak with chimichurri sauce; creamy Yukon Gold mashed potatoes; and sweet ginger-glazed carrots. The guests were also given Venezuelan chocolates.

During the speeches, the maid of honor said that marrying Alex has made Ivy’s childhood dreams come true, and spoke about how Ivy makes her a better person and how she takes care of Alex. The best man said that he has always looked up to Alex, and complimented Ivy’s family.

Ivy and Alex shared their first dance to “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” by Jasmine Thompson. Ivy and her father danced to “A Whole New World” by Lea Salonga and Brad Kane. Alex and his mother danced to “Lights” by Journey.

Other wedding fun included a “When You Wish Upon a Star” theme, a shoe game, and an anniversary dance.

Guests could choose from an almond-flavored cake with vanilla buttercream frosting or chocolate cake with raspberry ganache.

We hope Alex and Ivy share a long and happy life together!
