Alexa & Benjamin ~ August 3, 2012

August 3, 2012 brought a couple whose enthusiasm and cheer was contagious. Alexa and Benjamin met at a party, but didn’t have their first kiss until the day after they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Benjamin chose Alexa’s birthday for the proposal. The day of the wedding, the bride wore a lace gown with high neckline and short sleeves. Her hair was pulled back off her face and adorned with two fresh white flowers. For jewelry, sun-shaped diamond earrings added a bit of sparkle to the ensemble. With a mix of red poppies, yellow and orange mums and tiger lilies, the bouquet brightened the day. The bridesmaids were also festive in red dresses with one ruffle down the front and a black belt at the waist. The maid of honor’s dress was a little longer than the others with a black ruffle at the hem. The groom wore a traditional tuxedo with a red tie that nicely complimented the bridesmaid’s dresses. The groomsmen each had yellow ties.

For the reception, the personalized details made the wedding stand out. Tables were named after cities in Spain. Vases of bright flowers alternated between tall-standing and tabletop vases. The couple’s first dance was to God Gave Me You by Dave Barnes. After the father/daughter and mother/son dances, a video was shared. First, pictures of the couple showed the bride and groom throughout the years. Afterwards, the couple did an interview answering questions like ‘how did you meet?’ and ‘when was your first kiss?’

The show-stopping moment came when the groom got up to give a speech to thank the guests for coming (or so the bride thought). While giving his speech, he asked his wife to join him. He pulled out a chair for her while he told her how much she meant to him. Then the DJ began to play You’re My Inspiration by Chicago. The groom began singing along. After the first stanza two groomsmen joined Benjamin, singing and dancing like back-up singers.

Instead of a traditional cake, the couple had a smaller two-tiered cake adorned with fresh yellow and red roses sitting on top of two and a half tiers of cupcakes. They fed each other cake, before all the guests were on the dance floor having a great time.

For the traditional sparkler farewell, Alexa changed out of her wedding gown into a more comfortable white lace dress that came to the knee with a scoop neck. Thank you for sharing your love and happiness with all of us at Villa Siena. We wish you the best.
