The best man was the one to originally introduce the couple and was at his best friend’s side throughout the day. To celebrate the bride’s Irish heritage, the couple incorporated Celtic details into the wedding ceremony. The Claddagh symbol was printed on cocktail napkins and the wedding cake was decorated with Celtic patterns.

On her wedding day, the bride wore a lace Melissa Sweet gown from David’s Bridal. The gown was strapless with a flowing skirt. Her bouquet was wrapped in satin that came from her grandmother’s wedding gown. She also carried a pearl rosary. With her up-do the bride wore both a tiara and a veil. A pearl necklace finished the look. The bridal bouquet of white roses kept with the simple, elegant ensemble. Underneath her dress, Mackenzie wore open-toed shoes with bows on them. The bridesmaids wore burgundy dresses with ruffles down the front and also carried white rose bouquets. The bride met her maid of honor on the first day of preschool. Sara always wanted a sister and that’s exactly what Mackenzie became for her. When Mackenzie’s father saw his daughter in her in her wedding gown, the two shared an emotional moment before they walked down the aisle together to her groom.

For his wedding day, Timothy wore full military uniform. Three of his five groomsmen also wore military uniforms, while the other two groomsmen wore black tuxedos with black bow-ties.

Before the ceremony, the bride and groom held hands, each on the opposite sides of a wall so they could exchange a few private words without seeing one another until the ceremony. Then all took their places for the wedding to begin. The altar was embellished with a floral arrangement while red rose petals were scattered down the aisle. During the ceremony the couple took a moment to surprise their parents with roses as a thank you for all their parents have done for them throughout their lives. The couple also had their hands tied together in what is one of the oldest matrimonial rituals in existence. This symbolizes binding the couple to one another.

The couple’s first dance was to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri followed by Daddy’s Little Girl for the father and daughter dance and My Wish by Rascal Flatts for the mother and son dance.

After dinner and dancing came dessert with a four-tiered round cake with white fondant. The top three layers were decorated with lace fondant in a Celtic pattern. The bottom layer was finished with a big white fondant bow.

When guests were satiated, the night wound down. Congratulations Mackenzie & Timothy. May each day of your lives together bring you closer to one another.
